CarLotz is seeking an Accountant to perform financial accounting and analysis in our fast paced, rapidly growing organization. Responsibilities will include managing, recording and analyzing various financial accounts; preparing month-end journal entries supporting the financial closing; and developing policies and procedures and monitoring controls around key financial processes.

Essential duties:
- This position is expected to have the primary responsibility for the accounting and reporting for one of the Company’s most significant lines of business – the Wholesale Division. As such, this position will be responsible for:
- Managing and documenting the accounting processes surrounding the Wholesale Vehicle Line of Business;
- Documenting the Operational Purchasing and Selling Process, identifying and developing key controls, and testing regularly ensuring appropriate functionality. This would include:
- Recording all vehicle purchases and sales;
- Recording any liability for debt relating to floorplan purchases
- Managing and reporting on the location and status of all inventory;
- Monitoring and accounting for AR relating to any auction sales
- Account for all costs associate with inventory including any purchasing fees, transportation charges, repairs etc., and ensure inventory valuation is comprehensive;
- Prepare detailed inventory analysis monthly incorporating all associated costs
- Evaluation of market value of inventory based on latest market data – developing and managing any reserve for potential losses;
- Manage and account for all payments, receipts, and liabilities from our financing partners and reconcile accounts monthly;
- Build and document processes to ensure all costs associated with a vehicle is captured timely;
- Prepare detailed profitability analysis monthly
- Prepare executive report monthly detailing the operations of the Business Line
Additional duties:
- Preparation and Review of Financial Statements
- Cash management and forecasting for the Wholesale Line of Business
- Partnering with, supporting and advising the Business Unit Head
- Provide support and liaison with the Company’s External Auditors
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial controls and financial reporting
- Financial Analysis skills with the ability to drive changes to operations to improve both efficiencies and controls
- Experience with financial systems – Quickbooks experience preferred
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office products
- Accounting degree required
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to interact with Business Leadership
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
